Out of compliance – Delray Beach

Reef Rescue monitoring finds contractor out of compliance

The Delray beach renourishment project just started and is already out of compliance with the permit turbidity standards. This entire area was designated by the federal government as habitat critical to the survival of ESA protected staghorn coral. There is staghorn coral on Seagate Reef, less than 500 ft. from the offshore sand dredging location. Silt accumulation on the reef can severely affect the survival and recruitment of corals.
