FWC announces Coastal Wildlife Conservation Initiative Meetings

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) invites you to attend an introductory forum on the FWC’s new Coastal Wildlife Conservation Initiative (CWCI). The forum, targeting partners in St. Lucie, Martin and Palm Beach Counties, will take place Tuesday, July 19, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday, July 20, 9:00 a.m.- 12:00, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, West Palm Beach.

With the CWCI, FWC aims to build a partnership network – a coalition – to work together on issues related to the conservation of wildlife and natural areas in the coastal zone, in balance with the needs of our communities, residents, and visitors.

Our beaches and coastal areas are vitally important to both the socio-economic well-being of the state as well as the many species of wildlife dependent upon them. The mission of the CWCI is to improve upon our coordination – locally, regionally and statewide – to better
protect wildlife and manage their habitats in coastal areas.

Participation by and input from potential partners and stakeholders is a very important part of making such a large initiative a success. Our meeting objectives are to give an introduction to the CWCI and then provide participants with an opportunity to discuss issues of
concern or gaps seen and strategies to address them. If you plan to attend, please register.
