CORAL REEFS OF SOUTHEAST FLORIDA
WHO: The Southeast Florida Coral Reef Initiative (SEFCRI) invites elementary & informal educators in southeast Florida to participate in this exciting and interactive interdisciplinary workshop on coral reefs. The workshop will be facilitated by staff from the Department of Environmental Protection’s Biscayne Bay Aquatic Preserve, the Coral Reef Conservation Program, members of SEFCRI’s education team and local partners.
WHAT: This workshop will cover the basics of coral reefs, current threats and our local watershed.
There will be several blocks of time set aside for curriculum and activity sharing by both presenters and attendees, as well as a session on reef fish/coral identification. The field trip component of this workshop will include a tour of the facility/aquariums, seining & snorkeling on an artificial reef from shore.
