Home for the Holidays – Rescued sea turtle returned to the wild.
Rescued, rehabilitated and released – “Splash” the endangered green sea turtle is back home for the Holidays thanks to Reef Rescue divers, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center and Splashdown dive charters.
A happy ending for a juvenile green sea turtle rescued from a tangle of fishing line and hooks on July 6th (2011) by Reef Rescue divers who happened upon the injured turtle while performing a scuba survey of a Boynton Beach coral reef.
After undergoing surgery and months of recovery, on December 12, “Splash” was carried back to the ocean by Tommy Cutt, Director of Operations Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Ed Tichenor and Terry St. Jean, the turtle rescue divers from Palm Beach County Reef Rescue and Captain Lynn Simmons of Splashdown dive charters (the rescue boat).
